Arrowpoint Advisory advises on the sale of Monarch Education to Capita plc

Arrowpoint Advisory's Business Services team has advised the shareholders of Monarch Education Holdings Limited on the sale of the business to Capita plc.

Monarch Education is a provider of temporary and permanent recruitment services to primary, secondary and Special Educational Needs schools, placing teachers across much of England.

Founded by Mark Hunt in 2000 as a division of Monarch Recruitment, which provides recruitment services to the IT and Oil & Gas sectors, Monarch Education operates from a network of offices in Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol, with over 55 consultants. The Company is the largest provider of teachers in the West Midlands, which was a key reason for Capita's interest in the company. Capita Education Resourcing, a division of Capita, is one of the largest providers of teachers across the country. The acquisition cements this position and strengthens Capita's presence in the Midlands.

Steve Wright, Managing Director of Monarch Education commented: Having taken the decision to sell the company, we engaged with Arrowpoint Advisory to find an appropriate partner that would fit with our business and culture. Following discussions with a small number of strategic acquirers, the fit and synergies with Capita were compelling. We're looking forward to working alongside them to continue our successful growth.”

“Our relationship with Mark Hunt and the Monarch team goes back a number of years and we're extremely pleased to have supported them in this transaction with Capita. The education recruitment sector has seen considerable consolidation in recent months by both trade and private equity as buyers look to capitalise on the positive underlying market trends. This deal further highlights the renewed interest in M&A in the recruitment sector,”  said Simon Cope-Thompson, Managing Director at Arrowpoint Advisory.
