Associated British Foods plc has acquired dairy tech firm National Milk Records plc

Arrowpoint Advisory’s Consumer team have advised Associated British Foods plc (“ABF”), on its £48m all-cash acquisition of National Milk Records plc.

The ABF Group is a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group with 132,000 employees in 53 countries. ABF is listed on the London Stock Exchange and has a market capitalisation of £14bn.

AB Agri is ABF’s international agri-food business and a leader in the UK agricultural sector. AB Agri occupies a key position in the food supply chain, with a presence in more than 80 countries, employing over 3,000 people internationally. AB Agri supplies a wide range of animal feed, supplements and specialist ingredients, and provides value-added services and expertise to farmers, feed and food manufacturers and retailers.

National Milk Records was incorporated in 1997 having formerly been part of the Milk Marketing Board. The main business of the company involves the collection of milk samples from dairy cows, the recording of data regarding the animals such as milk yields, calving, and dry periods, laboratory analysis focusing on fat content, protein and somatic cell count, and the provision of information to the farmer about the individual animal and the herd.
