Harland & Wolff, a leading developer of strategic maritime assets, has sold certain assets to Navantia UK

Arrowpoint Advisory’s Energy Transition and Infrastructure team has advised Harland & Wolff Group Holdings Plc (“Harland & Wolff”) on its sale of certain assets including its Belfast, Appledore, Methil and Arnish sites to Navantia UK, protecting over 1,000 jobs across the four UK sites and strengthening Britain’s defence, maritime and clean energy industrial capabilities.

The transaction ensures the continuation of the Fleet Solid Support (FSS) programme, comprising three ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to support the UK Carrier Strike Group. These vessels will be built at the Belfast and Appledore facilities alongside Navantia’s facilities in Spain. Navantia UK plans significant development of the yards for the defence, maritime and green energy sectors.

Russell Downs, Interim Executive Chair of Harland & Wolff commented: “We appreciate the expertise and guidance that Ian and his team brought to the transaction and thank them for helping us to successfully navigate this challenging, multi stakeholder and high profile process.”

Ian Brown, Managing Director at Arrowpoint Advisory, concluded: “We are delighted to have worked with management at Harland & Wolff on this milestone and are excited about what this partnership with Navantia UK will bring to UK shipbuilding.”
