mBlox acquires CardboardFish

Arrowpoint Advisory's TMT sector team has advised the shareholders of SMS platform CardboardFish on the sale of the business to US-based mBlox.

Founded in 2000 by Allister Collins and Ben Fitter, CardboardFish is a leading global provider of application-to-person (A2P) SMS messaging solutions, which offers its customers significant savings on their national and international messaging requirements, sending nearly a billion messages each year over more than 760 networks in over 210 countries. It delivers messages for organisations including Facebook, Coca-Cola, HMRC and Johnson & Johnson.

mBlox is the largest independent A2P provider and, with global SMS volumes expected to grow by 1.4 trillion over the next five years, the acquisition will provide CardboardFish's customers with access to a much larger network with even greater international reach and capacity.

The addition of CardboardFish's next generation platform provides a clear migration path for legacy mBlox customers with a host of new features, even greater resilience and enhanced usability. The expanded capacity CardboardFish brings will give mBlox the scale and additional routes to deliver more A2P messages per year than any other provider in the world.

Richard Fetterman, Managing Director at Arrowpoint Advisory commented: mBlox offers CardboardFish a perfect strategic fit and the business will benefit not only from economies of scale but enables the company to offer its clients a more substantial offering and service. We are delighted to have been able to find a partner for the business which offers significant opportunities for future growth.”
