Protean Electric has been acquired by BD Auto and Energy

Arrowpoint Advisory has advised Protean Electric, a leading provider of fully integrated electric vehicle powertrain solutions, on its sale to BD Auto and Energy, a UK-based electric vehicle supplier and a customer of Protean Electric.

Based in the UK and founded in 2009, Protean Electric designs and manufactures electric motors. Its flagship product, ProteanDrive, is a highly integrated and compact in-wheel motor (IWM) that seamlessly fits into existing automotive platforms for use in electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The innovative IWM technology offers drivers improved torque response, enhanced handling, faster acceleration, less charging and dramatically increased space. Protean Electric provides solutions for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and future transport solutions such as autonomous pods.
