Cordek has been acquired by EFP Group

Arrowpoint Advisory’s Industrials sector team has advised Cordek, a UK-based company founded in 1973 specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of technical solutions for the construction industry on its sale to EFP Group, the largest Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) manufacturer in the UK.

Cordek based in Slinfold, West Sussex, design and manufacture high-performance products to several specialised areas in the construction industry. With over 50 years’ experience, they are renowned within the civil engineering sector for their ground engineering products such as Cellcore® and Filcor® and bespoke infrastructure and superstructure formwork. Their acquisition of Cambian Engineering in 2024, enabled Cordek to strengthen its market offering further by providing a consolidated supply solution of bespoke formwork, patterns, moulds and architectural features in engineered wood.

The EFP Group have over 50 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of sustainable moulded foam component solutions for a wide range of industries including automotive, HVAC, food, aerospace and construction. Today’s announcement marks the second acquisition completed by the EFP Group in the past two years following the addition of Springvale EPS in 2024 and marks the solidification of a long-standing commercial relationship between Cordek and Engineered Foam Products, a member of the EFP Group.

Cordek will continue operating under its well-established brand, ensuring continuity for customers, suppliers and employees. The acquisition further strengthens the position of the EFP Group within the construction and civil engineering sectors through an increased manufacturing network offering geographic coverage across the UK.

With enhanced design and engineering expertise and a broader product offering, the EFP Group is well positioned to deliver increased customer value and drive sustainable innovation across the industry.

Stephen Hearn, Managing Director at Cordek, commented: “I am extremely pleased that Cordek has been acquired by EFP Group. When the shareholders of Cordek decided that it was time to find a new owner, there was a strong desire to ensure the culture and values that have been so important for the company would remain. Engineered Foam Products, a member of the EFP Group, is our main supplier and over the years we have developed a strong working relationship. It is clear that both companies are very well aligned and complement each other in many ways.”

Stephen continued: “A big thank you to the team at Arrowpoint Advisory for being an incredibly supportive and committed partner throughout the transaction process. Their industry knowledge, combined with a sharp commercial perspective, played a pivotal role in overcoming challenges and securing an excellent result for us.”

Tom Smith, Managing Director at Arrowpoint Advisory, concluded: "We are delighted to have advised the Cordek shareholders, and in particular, Stephen and Grant, on this transaction. We believe EFP is the ideal partner for Cordek to capitalise on the current and future opportunities presented by its differentiated offering. This transaction also extends our track record as the leading adviser to independent, building materials-focused businesses in the UK — a segment where we expect a significant pick-up in activity over the coming months and years.”
